Temporary "Normal"

Hello! Its great to be together again. Did your child experience a "quarantine cut?" I'll admit, a child's haircut is no easy feat, and I commend you for tackling it. Or, does your child look like a chia pet? Many of our little friends have waited 9 long weeks or more for their routine trim. Either way, we are so excited to be back in the salon, working with all of your wonderful kiddos.

We would love to say that HairyTales is returning to normal. However, the times are changing and as such, we must adapt. If you're hoping to make an appointment or are just curious about what has changed, here's what you need to know:

Before your appointment

  • Our hours of operation are subject to change. At the moment, we are open 8am-6pm Wednesday-Saturday. While I wish we could say these hours are definitive, we are only on Day 3, and need time to perfect our routine. Booking will open each week on Sunday. As the state allows us transition into the next phases, we will allow booking farther out into the future.

  • Our prices have gone up. We had planned to make this adjustment gradually, but in order to keep our doors open, we had to make the jump now. Haircuts will now be priced at $25. We also offer a pre-paid pack where you can purchase 5 haircuts and get the 6th free.

  • We cannot accept walk-ins per current state board regulations. Eventually we will be able to have more leniency with this policy, but for now all appointments must call ahead. Our phone line is very busy, so if you reach our voicemail please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Feel free to utilize Facebook messenger as well.

  • On that note, we will be taking payment over the phone before your appointment to promote limited contact between clients and our dear receptionist. If you miss or arrive late for your appointment, we will not be able to issue a refund. If for any reason you need to cancel, please notify us atleast 4 hours before your appointment, and we will credit your account for a future service.

When you arrive

  • We ask that you arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. When you arrive please remain in your vehicle and call the salon at 508-927-4114, or message us on Facebook to notify us of your arrival. Our receptionist will come outside to administer touchless temperature checks. If your temperature reads too high (over 99 degrees), we will credit your account for a future service when you are feeling better.

  • Only one child and one guardian per family are allowed inside the salon at a time. We do this to maintain as much social distancing as possible between families, as we have two stylists working at the same time. All other family members must remain outside while waiting.

  • The town of Plymouth and the Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology requires that all individuals over the age of 2 years old must wear a mask in public places. All staff members wear masks throughout the day, and we ask that you do as well. We understand that there are special circumstances, and will determine the best course of action on a case by case basis. However, all indivuals over 2 years old must have a mask present at the time of their appointment.

What has changed inside the salon? To protect you and your family, we have taken some precautions inside the salon to help maintain social distancing and follow local and state guidlines.

  • Both stylists will wear masks, eye protection, gloves, and a smock or gown during all services. Gloves are changed before each new appointment. The receptionist wears a mask at all times, and eye protection and gloves when interacting with clients.

  • We sanitize our chairs, seats for parents, tools, and stations in between each new appointment. As always, we use a freshly sanitized comb and clips if need be, for each child.

  • We have downsized to two stations. The stations are positioned more than 6 feet apart from eachother to help maintain as much social distancing as possible.

  • We have removed our waiting area and play areas to minimize "high-touch" a surfaces. The only seating available in the salon is for the child in the chair, and one chair for a single gaurdian to sit close to their child during the haircut. Again, these seats are sanitized in between each appointment.

  • Our infamous treasure chest has been replaced for the time being. We have developed a new system where we display several toy options for your child to choose from. We will hand your child the toy of their choice, instead of allowing multiple children to rummage through the box.

  • We still have lollipops upon request. They are being stored out of reach from the public. A staff member will hand you the lollipop upon request.

  • As all of our other toys and entertainment have been stored away, we have also stored our tablets and bubbles. While this saddens us because it is a staple for our salon, it is neccesary. We still have movies playing on the T.V. and we welcome any form of entertainment you bring from home for your child.

  • Lastly, we have had many questions about how to tip. Tips are never expected but always greatly appreciated. We each have a tip jar with our names labelled on them for cash tips, or you can request that the receptionist add the tip to your card at the end of the appointment. For this reason, all payments will be processed on Saturday. So don't worry if the charge doesn't show up right away.

I know that was a lot of information. This process will continue to be a learning curve, and we are eagerly awaiting the day that we can return to business-as-usual. Your continuous support has been appreciated by us all. You and your families are the reason we keep going, and we are filled with joy to be able to serve our community. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out over Facebook, or call the salon.

Stay healthy and see you soon!

Lacey
